The Centennial High School PTSA is pleased to announce new and inaugural Overcomer Scholarship Program. Applications are now being accepted and two (2) $250.00 awards are available to graduating seniors from the class of 2023. Winners will be awarded scholarships at CHS Senior Awards Night in May 2023. Application essays may be used by the PTSA to recognize CHS Mentors.

The Centennial High School PTSA is pleased to announce our new and inaugural Overcomer Scholarship Program. Applications are now being accepted and two (2) $250.00 awards are available to graduating seniors from the class of 2023. Winners will be awarded scholarships at CHS Senior Awards Night in May 2023. The 2023 PTSA Overcomer Scholarship is funded through generous donation made by Rosalind Muchiri, proud CHS parent and CHS PTSA President. Application essays may be used by the PTSA to recognize CHS Mentors.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
----------------------

Applicants must...

1. Must be a 2023 CHS graduating senior.

2. Must be a 2023-2023 CHS PTSA student member along with at least one family member as a registered 2022-2023 CHS PTSA member and membership fees must be paid by April 28, 2023.

3. Have achieved a minimum cumulative unweighted G.P.A. of 2.0 through the first semester of senior year.

4. Eligible student can apply for ONE (1) CHS PTSA scholarship only (i.e. the student cannot apply for both Senior Scholarship and Overcomer Scholarship).

5. Must be accepted to a college (2 or 4 year), art school, trade/military or technical school.

ESSAY : (In 250 words or less)

Reflect upon a significant challenge/obstacle which you have had to face throughout all four years of your high school career. Describe how you overcame it, along with how this positively impacted you towards pursuing higher education and/or supporting the community. In addition, demonstrate with example(s) what unique attributes, skills, qualities, etc. you possess that has enabled you to overcome this challenge/obstacle.

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1:
Please email your CHS counselor to access your student records. Your counselor will confirm that you are a student who meets the minimum GPA requirements, along with your post-high school status for scholarship eligibility.

STEP 2:
After you obtain email approval from your counselor to confirm your eligibility, please copy-paste your counselor’s confirmation email response to this online application form. 

STEP 3:
Type your required essay in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF file format. 
*** DO NOT INCLUDE ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL OR CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION (such as your FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, NICKNAME, CONTACT INFORMATION, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, ETC) in the contents of essay files.
*** NAME YOUR FILE as "Essay". FILE NAMES SHOULD NOT CONTAIN ANY IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION.

STEP 4:
Confirm that at least one family member and yourself have both joined CHS PTSA during school year of 2021-2022 and paid memberships dues by April 28, 2023.  To join CHS PTSA Membership, visit www.chs-ptsa.org (adult membership is $15 per adult, and student membership is $10 per student). 

STEP 5:
Submit this online form by the deadline:
Friday, April 28 2023 at 5:00 PM EST.


STEP 6:
You will receive a confirmation email within five minutes after your submission of this online application.
